| Ahoy!
It’s your old buddy Hambone here to chat you up about Under the Shadow of the Noon-Day Witch, a thrilling new 3PP adventure for Sickest Witch launching October 14th, on Kickstarter. Written and illustrated by Sally Cantirino (Orla!, Door To Door Night By Night, Human Remains, I Walk With Monsters) and co-written by Geo Collazo (The Hotel Exorcist, A Girl Named Doom), Under the Shadow of the Noon-Day Witch is the newest third-party adventure for Sickest Witch RPG. This standalone tale brims with political intrigue, fire and brimstone, and the brutal machinery of medieval torture, all driven by Purity Rose in their crusade to cleanse the world of witches.
Check the link to get notified of launch and join the fight against Purity Rose in Under the Shadow of the Noon-Day Witch, Tuesday, October 14th on Kickstarter.

ModCon – the first convention dedicated to modern-era tabletop roleplaying games | |
| | May 30th, 2026 will be the first ModCon! It’s a one-day TTRPG convention dedicated to modern-era games. That’s any game set in the 20th or 21st centuries. Some examples include Top Secret, Delta Green, Cyberpunk Red, Call of Cthulhu, Triangle Academy, Fiasco, Kids on Bikes, Outgunned, Masks, Marvel Super Heroes, Weird Heroes of Public Access, Savage Worlds, Shadowrun, Vampire: The Masquerade, Twilight: 2000, Nights Black Agents, Tales From the Loop, and Feng Shui. I’m sure you can think of many more, but you get the idea. We love fantasy and sci-fi, but we felt like every game convention did a great job with those genres already, and wanted a chance for moderns to take the spotlight for once. So, talking about it at a con last year, Steven Parenteau (TotalCon), Peter Bryant (Solarian), and I decided to give it a go. And here we go! Badges will go on sale in January, and event submissions are open now. Every game you run earns a badge discount, if you run three games your badge is totally free. As long as your game is set in the 20th or 21st centuries, it’s right for ModCon. Email hello@modcon.games if you have any questions. ModCon is being held at the beautiful Smith College Conference Center overlooking the Mill River in Northampton, MA. Can’t wait to see you there! | |

| | It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The leaves are turning, the wind is picking up, and The Red Lobster is now draped in an orange banner declaring itself a Spirit Halloween Store. Halloween is right around the corner so let’s get ready NOW! The Halloween RPG market is a lot of quantity over quality, so I let me present to you a couple of surefire hits for your table by certified creative masterminds. Not only is Wittle Goblin and inspiring streamer and overall awesome soul, Witty nails the actual gaming end of the hobby with Night Thirst. Night Thirst is a tabletop vampire showdown where you and up to five friends compete to drink the most blood before sunrise. It’s like when me and my Pizza Pals go to Luigi’s Spaghetti Buffet on Tuesday Nights, but its Type O Negative instead of fettucine alfredo. Each vampire has unique powers, and while you’re sneaking, scheming, and biting your way through a tiny 3×3 grid, the secretive S.T.A.K.E. agents are watching, ready to take out anyone getting too reckless. It’s chaotic, strategic, and full of that delicious “vampires doing vampire things” energy—miniatures, dice, and mayhem included. | | Justin Sirois is as kind as he is creative. Personally, he inspires me with his prolific output of high quality gaming products. Oldest Child ranks high on my recent “Holy Cow! This is absolutely mind-blowing!” list of out-of-the-coffin game design. Oldest Child is this strange, beautiful game where you spend three years in the life of a sick vampire named Lyda, making impossible choices month by month. Every card flips the story in unexpected ways, and there’s no winning—just decisions, consequences, and a creeping sense of guilt mixed with dark humor. It’s intimate, weird, and kind of haunting, like you’re peeking into a life you’ll never forget, all while reflecting on your own messy human decisions. It’s seeping in folk-horror dread and the art is CHEF’S KISS. Justin is equally talented as a visual artist as he is a writer and game designer.

What’s up everyone! This week, I’d like to shine a spotlight on Flames of Orion! My friend Steve from the Under The Dice hobby zine and the Hive Scum Podcast created one of my favorite tabletop miniature games and I really want to share it with all of you! It’s everything I wanted from a mech-based tabletop game! It’s easy to pick up and play, minimal crunch, and you can play it intuitively. Games are FAST and explosive (literally!) if you’ve ever been mech-curious, this is a fantastic entry point! |
|
|
---|
|
| With that said, Steve will be running the scenario in the soon-to-be released rulebook at Arcanecon. In addition, there is a very special session of Flames of Orion called Emperor of Sands being run on Friday at ArcaneCon. This campaign is a scenario focusing on mech scrappers building junkyard mechs while vying for control over this backwater wasteland planet driven by light RPG mechanics! Emperor of Sands is still looking for players, so if you plan on attending the convention and want to check it out, sign up here! Both sessions are fantastic introductions to this game system!
Have a great week!
Interested in ArcaneCon? Check it out here! Join the Arcane Sword Press Discord Where you can find yourself and the arcane comrades Eon (YouCanBreathNow Games) and Ben (Empty Castle Press) loitering around talking about games and organizing events! | |
